Breaking Rules to Create Inclusivity in Beauty

 

We’ve all seen the highly airbrushed ads of beautiful people adorning porcelain skin and rosy-pink cheeks. While this certainly has its appeal, I was excited when a client approached the agency to help her create a natural and inclusive skincare brand that pushed the envelope.

 

As the creative lead on the project, I was tasked to conceptualise the brand name, corporate identity, and strategy. With a blank canvas before me, I looked to create and position this new brand as an inclusive skincare range for individuals who want natural, purposeful products that meet their skincare needs.

 

The name, Unapologetic Skin or “US” talks to inclusivity across gender, race and skin type. The brand is designed to challenge the status quo and break conventional rules of brand design. With 36 logo options, the brand mark is constructed to engage and fuse with the subject and showcase inclusivity as a top priority. As a natural brand, the packaging is compostable and reusable.

 

The client will be launching this brand in 2022 in London, the United Kingdom.
